3A Region IV District 27 didn’t just change — it leveled up.
Last year’s district was a 6‑team battle, and the standings told the story clearly:
Marion ran the table, finishing 9‑1 in district and claiming the District Championship, with Cole and Randolph right behind them. It was competitive, physical, and full of breakout performances.
But now?
The map has shifted. The gyms have changed. The competition just doubled in intensity.
Realignment: From 6 Teams → 8 Teams
This year’s district adds four new programs, expanding the fight from six to eight:
Incoming From District 26
Poth & Stockdale
Incoming From District 28
Poteet & Jourdation
Leaving District 28
Great Heart Vista & Great Heart Northern Oaks
These aren’t small additions — these are programs with tradition, toughness, and athletes who can hoop. They bring new styles, new rivalries, and new road trips that will test every roster in District 27.
More teams.
More games.
More travel.
More chances to prove who really runs the district.

Who Will Win the District This Year?
Last year belonged to Marion, but realignment changes everything.
Cole is looking to make it back to their STATE RUN Form!
Randolph is always in the mix and this might be their year with their returning squad!
YMLA got a new coach and looking to make a true push for the top!
Poth strong finish last year, will be looking to make sure they are not the team left out in this new district!
And the other three incoming teams aren’t arriving quietly — they’re arriving with momentum.
This year’s District 27 race is officially wide open.
Eight teams.
One crown.
And a district that’s about to deliver some of the best basketball in 3A Region IV.
Predicted 2026–27 District 27 Playoff Teams
1) Cole — strong culture, and always built for district play.
2) Poth — New to the district but not new to competing.
3) Randolph — Disciplined, tough, and consistent year after year.
4) Marion (New Coach) — The defending champs still have talent; the new leadership will be the X‑factor.
YMLA just got a new coach and with the district improving by adding 4 new teams things just got harder for YMLA. They’ll be competitive — but my prediction has them just outside the top four.
Great part of all this, GAMES have to be played and players have to show up and PLAY!
